but unable to complete the pass.
Inaugural Northwest Nationals race winner Steve Thompson of West Richland,
Washington closed in on the lead during the final laps to apply pressure to the
inside of Secord with 10-laps to go.
Secord prevailed holding a strong lower line through the turns to take the
victory after a challenge on a restart. Thompson finished second Rob Powers
third.
The win was Secord’s first victory at Stateline in only his second start. The
win netted car owner Terry Rennick his second title at the Northwest Nationals.
Rennick finished fourth driving a team car.
John Jackson finished fifth, the highest of local drivers. After running second
the majority of the race Rohde finished sixth. Kameron McKeehan, Bud Rumsey,
Cody Stewart, and Johnny Rumsey rounded out the top ten.

Northwest Pro 4 Alliance 2008 Summer of Excitement
12/22/2008
Bob Coply, NP4A Media
Boise, ID --- The big question going around these past few weeks has been: What makes the “2008 Summer of Excitement Series” so exciting? Well, that’s a good question. And the best way we can answer that, is to take a look at the results from the Northwest Pro4 Alliance’s 2007 season.
The
2007 Northwest Pro4 Alliance “Tri Track Showdown” saw 49 different race teams
compete from six different states, with an average of 29 cars per event. The
Alliance had three different winners, and a champion that didn’t win a single
race but consistently finished every event, never once placing outside the top
three spots.
The
Alliance raced for combined awards of over $20,000.00, including track purse,
event sponsorship money, and major product sponsorship awards. The Alliance
also added a website maintained by Julie Bundschuh (www.nwpro4alliance.com ) and
obtained the services of Troy Blanton as Race Coordinator.
Now
during the off season, the staff of the Alliance
has continued to work diligently preparing for the 2008 racing season, and the
positive results speak for themselves to answer the question, “What’s so
exciting?”
First,
shortly after the end of the 2007 season, the Northwest Pro4 Alliance announced
a provisional start program and the list of eligible teams for 2008. These 14
teams will now have the chance at using a provisional start, should they
encounter problems that keep them from qualifying for an event in 2008. The
second announcement was the Motorsports Consulting Services Crew Chief of the
Year award, which will further honor the efforts of the men and women behind the
race team.
The
2008 schedule also saw the addition of the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval to the
list of outstanding racetracks visited next season, bumping the schedule to four
events in 2008. And we are also thrilled to announce that all of our 2007
Sponsors have returned, and we will also be welcoming several new sponsors for
2008. And the list of drivers committing to the series continues to grow, with
names such as 2006 and 2007 Meridian Speedway Champ, Kale Freedman, and 2007
State Line Speedway Champ, Jeff Smyth, just to name a few of the teams who will
join our Alliance Champ, Kameron McKeehan, in 2008.
We
still have several goals we are working on for 2008, but you can bank on next
season living up to its name, the “2008 Summer Of Excitement"
